I took my teenage son to the ED on Christmas Eve because he was sick, had a sore throat and a fever that lasted a few days. Wendy was his nurse, and she immediately took measures to make him more comfortable. She understood he had trouble swallowing so she asked him if he thought he could swallow the pill medication before giving it to him, or if he'd rather have a liquid form. She then asked him if he would like the lights to be dimmed because he had a bad headache, he did, and she did that for him. She also asked him if he'd like a blanket because it was cold in the room, but informed him that, because he had a fever, it wouldn't be a warm, heated blanket, and he agreed. We were very thankful for her care, thoughtfulness, and consideration. Most nurses do not offer that level of comfort and care at that facility, and it stood out to us. Wendy was his nurse during a previous visit some time before, and even then, she was very thorough, accommodating, and attentive. We appreciated her service very much. We understood it was Christmas Eve, and I am sure the staff would rather be home with their families, but that did not stop Wendy from providing excellent service to her patients. My son and I are very grateful for the level of care and compassion he received during the visit.

I believe Wendy is a wonderful asset to TCRHCC ER. She has been here many years and continues to treat and service people with a wonderful attitude. I even overheard her providing care for an elderly Navajo patient in the adjoining bed/area, and she was very culturally conscious by speaking to him in his language as much as she could while being attentive to his needs. I thought that was very commendable. I hope TCRHCC understands and values the staff, like Wendy, who make a difference and truly convey the corporation's mission and values. As a colleague, patient, and parent, I appreciate the care and service Wendy provides. It matters. It creates a level of trust that we will be treated competently and thoroughly. Wendy is a true professional, and her empathy is appreciated. That is something most health care professionals lack.

Her knowledge of emergency nursing is exceptional. Wendy has attention to detail for all patient care and has been an exceptional nurse for the past years.
