My favorite part about Crystal is her passion for nursing and patient advocacy – she is never afraid to speak up for the patient and provide feedback so others can learn the correct way.
Crystal has always stepped up to help wherever education is needed no matter what the subject is or her availability of time. She shows pride and compassion in nursing, always reminding the staff of the why behind education, keeping it connected to human life. She doubled her mock code rounding in response to RQI roll out as she anticipated nurses would need more hands-on support even during nightshift. She opened her office to skill stations to practice.

She shared collaborative and innovative ideas to improve in various committees that impact the quality performance of nursing. Sepsis, for example, Crystal advised me on her prior experience of what’s worked and what hasn’t, and then offered to come side by side with me to round for sepsis awareness month. She heard my cry for help with nurse assessment skills and critical thinking that impact failure to rescue, and she immediately said, “Let’s do a first-ever nursing conference here at Del Webb,” which helped over 200 RNs feel more empowered to prevent deterioration.

I look up to Crystal as a professional nurse role model because she carries herself professionally, remains clinically an expert as she executes her goals with influence for positive change. Crystal exceeds her role expectations and participates in professional development & various committees, always brainstorming ways to improve. I still see her as the critical care RN she will always be.

Crystal holds the standard for lifelong learning, carrying multiple certifications, never truly dissociated from the bedside, she will come and put her hands on with you. She is master’s prepared and has her clinical nurse leader, which is reputable for earning magnet status. Most importantly, she is going to share all her knowledge with you and prepare you the right way.

My favorite part about Crystal is her passion for nursing and patient advocacy – she is never afraid to speak up for the patient and provide feedback so others can learn the correct way. She does this kindly and all for the sake of the patient as she continues to build trusting relationships around her. She remains positive through challenges and always finds a way to make me smile.

I continue my challenging journey here because I know I have the support of people like her who would lend a hand, be a mentor, or caring colleague so I know I am never alone.  I truly think Crystal helps this hospital evolve into higher thinking and standards all while maintaining excellent relationship with all of us. Thank you for being the best educator I have ever had the pleasure of working alongside.
