"Being a team does not include one individual, but positive people working together and being patient with one another to get the job done." This quote perfectly describes our unit. Although we have only been a team for 4 plus months, we have proven to be a team that wants to succeed. We have all come together from different places and experiences not only to build an Emergency Department from scratch but to meet the common goal of providing excellent and compassionate care for this community. Our Press Ganey scores convey that, along with all of our positive outcomes. Together, our combined talents assist us in being a proactive unit in this reactive world. We are prepared to handle almost any situation that may come our way. We have a special place in our hearts for the pediatric population and are able to accommodate their special needs, such as distraction toys and comforting numbing spray. At Christmas time, we got together and made Christmas stockings for the children, and we currently have Easter baskets for them. While we still have great things to accomplish as a team, we are very proud of what we have done thus far and where we are going together.

I am nominating this team because we are a brand-new ER that this staff has built from the ground up. We have all come together from different areas of expertise and backgrounds to create a work environment that we actually look forward to coming to. We work closely with our local EMS crews to provide excellent care to our patients and to provide snacks and drinks to our EMS crews as well. As a team, we have built a UBC program that encourages programs for children, including making Christmas stockings and Easter Baskets. We take patient care and satisfaction very seriously and it is shown in our Press Ganey scores. I am nominating this team for all the hard work we have put in to making this unit feel like a family. From creating our own staff-driven library to birthday celebrations, we support each other and are always looking to the future on how we can make our patients feel like they are being taken care of by people who care about them.

Since opening, the Northdale Freestanding ER team has truly embodied compassion, community service, and outstanding teamwork. Although together for only a short time, they have built an Emergency Department from the ground up — uniting diverse talents and experiences to deliver exceptional, compassionate care to their community.

Their commitment extends far beyond medical treatment. The team proactively supports vulnerable populations, assembling support bags for the homeless and creating festive stockings and Easter baskets for pediatric patients. They also established a toy box and treasure chest to comfort young patients, and thoughtfully stock supplies to support STAR patients, ensuring personalized care during stressful experiences.

Driven by a deep sense of teamwork and purpose, they consistently foster a positive, welcoming environment — especially during holidays — which patients and families frequently praise. Their strong Press Ganey scores reflect both their clinical excellence and their heart for service.

The Northdale team’s creativity, compassion, and collaboration set a gold standard in holistic care. They exemplify every quality the DAISY Award seeks to honor and are more than deserving of this recognition.

Since the opening of the Northdale Freestanding ER, this team has exemplified the true spirit of compassion, community service, and extraordinary teamwork. From day one, they have made it their mission not just to care for patients, but to actively connect with and uplift the community they serve. Beyond delivering excellent medical care, the Northdale team has gone above and beyond in countless ways. Recognizing the needs of the community, they created support bags for the homeless — thoughtfully filled with essentials like blankets, toothbrushes, toothpaste, snacks, and more — demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to serving those often overlooked. Their compassion has extended warmly to their youngest patients as well. During the holidays, the team crafted festive stockings for pediatric patients, personally handing them out upon discharge. The joy and excitement on the children's faces were unforgettable and spoke volumes about the heart and dedication this team brings to their work. To continue fostering a positive and comforting environment, the team also established their own toy box and treasure chest, ensuring that every child leaves the ER with a small token of comfort after their care. For patients who experience more stressful healthcare encounters, the team has proactively stocked supplies specifically for our STAR patients, going the extra mile to ease anxiety and create a more supportive experience. Their spirit of togetherness shines throughout the facility, especially during holidays. The team takes time to decorate the ER for various celebrations, creating a welcoming and cheerful environment that patients and families frequently comment on with appreciation. Most recently, they assembled Easter baskets for pediatric patients, further demonstrating their ongoing commitment to brightening every patient’s day, even beyond clinical care. The Northdale Freestanding ER team is a living example of what it means to provide holistic, compassionate care. Through their creativity, collaboration, and unwavering dedication to their patients and community, they have truly set a gold standard for teamwork and service. They embody every quality the DAISY Award seeks to recognize, and they are more than deserving of this honor.

Since opening our new offsite Emergency Room in November, this team has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to excellence, patient-centered care, and teamwork. What began as a brand-new site with all the expected up and downs and obstacles quickly transformed into an efficient performing unit marked by a culture of compassion, resilience, and unity.

In January, we were faced with the challenge of low patient satisfaction, reflected in a 30th percentile Press Ganey score for comfort during drawing blood. We stood to that challenge and did not accept that as our norm. We, as healthcare leaders in our community, vowed to ensure our patients felt comfortable with all their care while in our home. We heard the concerns, adapted our skills and practice, and went above and beyond to ensure each and every patient has the best personalized experience within our care. We wanted to ensure each patient felt listened to, respected, and cared for to their fullest need and extent. Our dedication, compassion, empathy, and collaborative hearts and attitudes led to an astonishing restrengthening by April. As new healthcare leaders in the community, our nursing team proudly reached the 99th percentile in Press Ganey scores for this specific concern.

Our Northdale family takes pride in the dedication of the care we offer to our pediatric population and the heart that goes into ensuring each pediatric patient is comfortable and feels safe within our care. It is a priority of our team to influence healthy, safe, and friendly healthcare experiences with our pediatrics. We encourage their voices with their care. We encourage questions at all ages, and we promote demonstrations of nursing's tasks to eliminate fears of the unknown. Our skilled Northdale nurses are beyond compassionate with our pediatrics and love to shower our young patients with homemade heartfelt gifts, hand drawn photos, and a great treasure box of goodies.

This is just a small testament to the culture we’ve built here at Northdale and the standards of everyday care that we set to meet with each patient's needs. Our ER is not just a team of dedicated healthcare professionals but is a family of the most caring, compassionate, empathic, and eager hearts that support our community and all who enter our Northdale Home. This ultimately emphasizes our skills to go beyond better patient care and succeed at reaching optimal patient care while constantly influencing improved health outcomes.

Our environment proudly supports and uplifts one another. Our established Unit Based Council is dedicated to ensuring every member is empowered to give their best every shift and be supported with the best. Our family-oriented team is dedicated to guiding and providing the best patient care individualized to each patient's specific needs.

I believe this journey, from humble beginnings to top-tier performance, supported a positive impact within a community in a short time and truly deserves recognition. Our team’s growth, unity, and dedication to delivering exceptional care embody what dedicated, caring, and compassionate healthcare excellence looks like.

I’d like to nominate my Northdale Off-Site Emergency Room for the DAISY Team Award because they constantly show what true dedication, compassion, and teamwork look like, especially in the most intense, high-pressure situations. Being a smaller, off-site ER means we’re often short on resources and staff, but this team never lets that stop them from giving every patient the best care possible. One moment that stands out to me was when we had a patient come in with a gunshot wound. We had limited staff that night — just one provider, two staff nurses, a team lead, and a paramedic— and we didn’t have immediate access to all the resources a main hospital has. In this situation, nobody hesitated. The team jumped into action without missing a beat. While one nurse worked to stabilize the patient, the other was managing meds and starting IVs. The team lead was serving as a resource and was simultaneously communicating with EMS for transfer. The provider led with calm precision, and the paramedic stepped in wherever needed, grabbing supplies, helping reposition the patient, and even helping clean the critical room afterward. Despite the chaos, the team remained focused, composed, and completely centered on the patient. There was no panic, no frustration — just a shared goal: save a life. And they did. Specifically, members involved- Michael Cruz (team lead), Danny Sanchez and Aristin Paul (bedside nurses), Hayli Moe (Paramedic), Nicole Kronemberg (ANM), Dr. Martin (provider).
