I worked with Stephanie on CVPV when she had a critically ill patient. This poor gentleman had a small bowel obstruction and terrible abdominal pain that was not resolved with medication. Stephanie knew from the beginning of the shift that something was not right. She began reaching out to the providers immediately, trying to get the ball rolling on X-rays and labs, while also advocating for the patient to get increased pain medication. She spent the majority of the night in and out of that patient's room, while also caring for two other people.

It took the majority of the night to get everything taken care of, but at 0400 in the morning, the patient was taken to emergent surgery. This was all because of Stephanie's critical thinking and perseverance in making sure everything was taken care of. Had she not been vigilant in reaching out to the appropriate people, this patient could have had a very different outcome. I am so thankful to have Stephanie as a team member. I know that she is compassionate and thorough in her care, and I am always happy to work with her.
