Kara is a major asset to not only the nursery but the hospital as a whole.
Kara White goes above and beyond as a coworker, a loyal Rapides floor nurse for 10+ years, and a lactation consultant. Every shift she works, she comes in with a positive attitude and is all hands on deck, no matter what the situation is. She is not only a helping hand to postpartum mothers that are breastfeeding, but also sees moms in the labor room to educate the mom breastfeeding prior to delivery to set them up for success, does call backs on postpartum mothers to follow up to make sure they're doing well after discharge, ensures we are doing the correct things in order for the hospital to keep our Gift designation, and adds on to help other units as a floor nurse. She is most definitely a valuable member of our team.

Kara is an amazing nurse and coworker who goes well above her duties as a CLC. Kara never says no when something is asked of her, whether that is from a patient, family member, or coworker. She goes above and beyond for everyone she meets. She is readily available whenever there is a need. Kara is not only a lifesaver for postpartum breastfeeding mothers and for antepartum mothers who want to succeed in breastfeeding once the baby is born, but also for her coworkers. When needed, she adds on as a floor nurse and helps out the units with any tasks needed. We would not be the unit we are today without her. She is a vital part of our hospital.
***
As a past nursery nurse and currently the Lactation Specialist, Kara always makes herself available with a positive attitude. When it's super busy, she'll help out in the nursery as well as do her job as the lactation specialist. When we are short-staffed on the night shift, she'll add on to help us out as well. She is always willing to teach, and the patients love her. She goes above and beyond for her team and her patients.

Kara has been a phenomenal employee at Rapides Women's & Children's for over 10 years. She exceeds all expectations required for her job and goes above and beyond in everything that she does. Kara helps moms by educating and assisting mothers with feeding their newborn during their hospital stay, but also allows mothers to make an appointment with her to assist with problems with breastfeeding after discharge. She also spends time with our NICU mothers educating them on the importance of pumping when unable to latch while the baby is in the NICU and how beneficial breastmilk is to premature babies.
All while assisting these mothers, Kara makes call backs to patients who have been discharged to make sure that they received everything that they needed and to answer any questions that they may have, and she is in charge of ensuring we meet all requirements for our gift designation. Kara always has a positive attitude and is always willing to help out wherever needed, whether it is taking a team, taking on tasks, or even adding on extra to help out when needed. Kara is a major asset to not only the nursery but the hospital as a whole. We couldn't provide the best care to our patients without her.
