At the end of her shift on the last day she worked with Mom, she gave us a “Heartbeat in a Jar,” which was a copy of Mom's telemetry strip in a jar. It was the most special gesture anyone has ever done for us.
Amy was a truly special person in our mom's care. Mom was sent to the ED for respiratory distress, put on a ventilator, and moved to the ICU. Amy was her nurse for 4 shifts and treated our mom so well. Every time she came in, she would explain what she was doing and keep us informed about her labs, procedures for the day, and ultimately helped us transition her to comfort care after coordinating with her doctor about the best plan to take.

Amy was here with us while they extubated mom and provided the best end-of-life care she could. She checked on us every hour. She didn’t just take care of our mom; she took care of us. At the end of her shift on the last day she worked with Mom, she gave us a “Heartbeat in a Jar,” which was a copy of Mom's telemetry strip in a jar. It was the most special gesture anyone has ever done for us. Amy made sure we understood every aspect of our mom’s care and what to expect moving forward with her end-of-life care. We believe everyone you meet is for a reason, and we are so thankful we met Amy.
