Hermi is an Outpatient Infusion nurse who exhibits reliability and true consideration, compassion, and empathy for her patients in every situation. Recently, we had a patient who, unfortunately, had a problem with bed bugs and needed to come for weekly chemotherapy. Needless to say, we were all a little worried about being exposed, but Hermi worked with her Director to make the patient as comfortable as possible.

The patient was distressed, embarrassed, and upset about her situation, and Hermi cared for her with compassion and respect. The patient was here for several hours, and although in isolation, Hermi monitored her continuously and talked to her about how to get her problem at home taken care of, offered her resources, but most of all, treated her without discrimination. Toward the end of the visit, the patient had respiratory distress and needed immediate attention. Hermi was there using protocol and kept the patient stable and safe without hesitation. You could see that the patient was grateful just by the look in her eyes, as she couldn't talk very well due to her illness. This is only one of many patients that Hermi has cared for and tried to help. She will go above and beyond to find out what people need, whether it is with clothes, food, or just counseling them on how they can get help. She is a true DAISY, and I am proud and honored to have her on my team.
