Katie cared for my dad while he was on her unit at the Jefferson Bucks campus. Katie was so empathetic to my dad, family, and I’s situation. Newly postpartum, she was pumping, working night shift, but still gave her undivided attention to us while he was in her care. She kindly printed out a heart rhythm strip for me upon request after we made the hard decision to withdraw.

I was really emotional, being a nurse myself and being in this situation, and Katie even chased after me while I was leaving for the elevator to make sure that I was okay. My dad ultimately ended up being discharged on hospice, we brought him home, and he passed peacefully surrounded by family the next day, which was his wish, to be home. I’ll never forget Katie and her care of my dad and family during that really difficult time.
