My father was flown to San Juan Regional Hospital for emergency care, which was quite a distance from home. When he was transferred to the 5th floor from the ER, Michael was the nurse assigned to him. Immediately, my father was comforted by Michael and made sure his stay was comfortable and welcoming. Michael was compassionate and showed empathy not only to my father but also to my family. Michael did a great job communicating the process and procedures to us. My father and I were concerned and, quite frankly, scared, but Michael made it easy for us to understand and was transparent, which helped us comprehend what was happening. He brought food for my father, warmed up his food when it got cold, and changed his sheets when asked. Michael always had a smile on his face and was very gentle with his care, which was greatly appreciated. This was an unexpected event, but Michael made it a little easier for us, which was super helpful. He treated my father like a family member, which was truly sweet to see.
