This team has come together to increase patient satisfaction, implementing leadership patient rounding pre- and post-surgical, as well as, following up with inpatient surgical patients and surgical admit patients. We have modified patient admission for one-on-one pre-admission to allow for better communication with patients. We are currently in the process of implementing a bedside report for inpatient and Phase II patients, but currently in the infancy of this process, but are hopeful for large strides towards more proficient collaboration of care and communication amongst ancillary staff.

I am proud to nominate the Recovery Services Team for the DAISY Team Award, recognizing their exceptional dedication, compassionate care, and outstanding teamwork in providing top-quality recovery support to our patients and their families.

The Recovery Services Team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every individual and family in our care receives not just clinical expertise but emotional, mental, and physical support from the start of their experience all the way through to recovery and discharge. Our team is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and compassionate environment which is reflected in the stories shared by our patients and their families.

Here are just a few of the many reasons why this team deserves the DAISY Team Award:

Compassionate Patient Care: The Recovery Services Team approaches each patient with empathy, treating them as individuals, with respect for their unique recovery needs. They always take the time to listen, ensuring that patients feel understood and supported, no matter the challenges they face. The Recovery Services Team is proactive in answering questions and concerns the patient and family may have.

Holistic Approach to Recovery: The team incorporates a holistic view of recovery, addressing the physical health needs of the patient but also their emotional, mental, and social well-being. Their comprehensive approach empowers patients to regain not only their health, but also their confidence and sense of self-worth. Allowing for the opportunity to gain comfort related to the procedure and ease concerns for the patient and family.

Collaboration and Teamwork: The Recovery Services Team works in seamless collaboration, with each team member bringing their expertise and skills to the table. Communication between pre-op, OR, PACU, and Phase II is continuously adjusting to improve the teamwork and facilitate bedside care and collaboration with patients and their families. The teamwork is not just between nurses, physicians, and staff, but also incorporates the patient and their family. This commitment to teamwork ensures the best possible outcomes for each patient.

Positive Impact on Families: Recovery is a journey, and this team understands that the patient's family plays a crucial role. The Recovery Services Team provides support, resources, and guidance to family members, helping them to better understand the pre-operative and recovery process and how they can best support their loved ones. This holistic approach creates a strong foundation for long-term success.

Resilience in Challenging Times: The team shows incredible resilience and determination, particularly during times of change or crisis situations. Whether handling complex cases or navigating through unexpected challenges, the team remain steadfast in providing consistent, high-quality care, no matter the obstacles.

Patient Testimonials:

"The overall visit was amazing. The nurses were very caring and explained everything very well. I received a card after my procedure, signed by the nurses, and that was very nice."

"As a former OR Manager with 40+ years in the OR, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall care and compassion of the nurse that I encountered. From the PACE nurse Catherine, my Preop RNs and CNA, Erin, Sharon and Haley who listened that I was a difficult stick and took the appropriate actions to make my IV insertion as painless as possible. Kristie my PACU nurse who addressed by pain level and kept me warm. As well as Joseph my Phase 2 nurse who made my husband feel confident that I was ready to return home and reviewed with him what his role was with my care at home. It's unfortunate that my Thank You card did not include the OR nurses that had a hand in my care; however, I will not forget them, many times we are the unsung RNs."

"I am 63 years old. I have been in numerous hospitals in my lifetime. This was by far the most pleasant experience I have ever had with any hospital or stay. I was treated as an individual person and not as ' next' in line. Thank you for making my surgery less scary."

"This was the first time having a procedure like this, I was very nervous and anxious about the surgery, but the doctor and nurses are so supportive and professional, they chased all my fears away. They made an unpleasant experience a memorable one. Thanks to everyone!!"

In every interaction, the Recovery Services Team embodies the mission of Baptist Medical Center, ensuring hope, instilling healing, and encouraging well-being in all our patients through God's love. They are an inspiration to their peers and an indispensable part of our organization.

For all these reasons and more, I am honored to submit this nomination for the DAISY Team Award. The Recovery Services Team exemplifies the spirit of excellence in patient care, and deserves to be recognized for their unwavering commitment to their patients and the families they serve.
