In February, my dad suffered a tragic stroke from which he never recovered.  One night, I came for a visit and met my dad’s nurse, LaBria.  My plan when I arrived was to ask this nurse to play my dad’s favorite bluegrass music.  As I entered my dad’s room, LaBria already had his favorite bluegrass music softly playing by his bedside.  During this emotionally charged time of sudden tragedy, this simple gesture brought a smile to my heart.  This nurse, on her own accord, had gone out of her way to provide comfort to her patient, which spilled over as comfort to the family.  Thank you, LaBria!
    
Today, as I write this nomination, is my father’s funeral.  But today will be a celebration of life!  My dad was a pastor.  He spent his life serving and loving others.  As fitting, his service will be full of bluegrass music.
