I met Cynthia around 6:30 AM. She was very professional, so kind, and aware of my fear, and put all my fears to rest and made me feel better.
I went in to have a cardiac PF ablation, and I was very scared. I had been an RN for 43 years and was presently retired during the past year. I had two knee replacements and a total reverse shoulder done all at the Mayo in the past year. I have had exceptional staff all the way. It seemed to me that having your heart worked on was a little scarier for me.
I met Cynthia around 6:30 AM. She was very professional, so kind, and aware of my fear, and put all my fears to rest and made me feel better. I have a very bad back and had back surgery, and I knew lying flat was going to be a big issue. Cynthia helped me get ready in the morning and made sure everything flowed smoothly and put all my fears to rest.
I was in the operating room for four hours getting my ablation. Shortly after I returned to my room, my back was killing me. I was very nauseated, and I was not feeling well at all. Cynthia was quick to help me, and I was given medication to relieve the symptoms I was having. I felt better very soon. She even got a pillow to help me tilt a little bit, and the pain medicine was starting to ease my pain. It was about 3 o’clock in the afternoon, and I was getting ready to go home. I got up to go to the bathroom and started to have bleeding on the floor in the bathroom from my incision. Cynthia was right outside the bathroom door and ran in. She applied pressure to my incision and assisted me to walk back to the bed and started applying pressure over again that we had done previously to stop the bleeding.
Even though I was an RN, I was extremely scared, and this had never happened to me. I finally got ready to leave around 5 o’clock, and she arranged for my transport to go down, and I am so thankful for her. She helped relieve a very stressful, scary day for me and turned it into a very wonderful experience. I will never be able to thank her enough for all she does. She is an angel and has the patience of steel. She is so caring and compassionate and ready to help at a minute’s notice.
I want to thank her so much, I could not do it without her.
