Beth has an incredible amount of knowledge on Gestational Diabetes, what it practically means to women who suffer with it, and what is within and outside your control, which I was so impressed with.
I've had both my babies at the women's hospital, and during both my pregnancies, I developed Gestational Diabetes- first pregnancy diagnosed at 20 weeks and second at 11 weeks, and during both my pregnancies, Beth provided exceptional care and support to me. She treated me with kindness, care, and practical advice, making managing these diagnoses seem less daunting, and that made me feel I could actually do it! I found I couldn't manage my diabetes with my diet alone, and was on insulin 4 times a day, which was constantly increasing as my pregnancy progressed. Beth gave me reassurance on what I needed to do and that it wasn't my fault when I needed to increase my insulin, and that I was doing everything possible to control what I could, which is exactly what I needed to hear. Beth has an incredible amount of knowledge on Gestational Diabetes, what it practically means to women who suffer with it, and what is within and outside your control, which I was so impressed with. She is able to translate clinical diagnostics into what it actually means to someone's life and pregnancy. She has a natural way about her that puts you at ease when actually what you're going through is really stressful and worrying - it turns your pregnancy into high risk with lots to manage (and lots of injections and finger pricks!!) She took time to remind me to actually enjoy my pregnancies and not just focus on what I can and can't eat, as it's such a special time in my life! Whenever I was at the hospital for growth scans, she'd always come over to speak to me and check in, making me feel like she really cared about me. I will forever be grateful to her for helping me through both my pregnancies and helping get my daughters here safely! She is a credit to the women's hospital.
