In a matter of minutes, every nurse knew their roles, and the team was ready to act the moment the ambulances arrived. Monica brings a calm, savvy, and smoothness to operations that truly is uncanny; she is this way, always.
I can hardly begin with words so profound as to honor this noble light of our nursing world. Often enough in trauma medicine and related nursing practice, do so many find those who are competent and capable of performing the various tasks that save lives. Yet what is rare, are those who glow so bright, that their presence gives peace to doctor and nurse alike; this is precisely what and who Monica is. On a certain day in our Emergency Department, not so long ago, Monica was our Charge Nurse. It was a busy night and as per usual, Monica was creating fine order from the unknowns arriving in this realm of critical care. As is expected at some point any night, EMS calls over the coms multiple trauma alerts. Monica's prowess for this battlefield, innately flows from her command; a practiced rigor to be sure, but how natural it seems now. In a matter of minutes, every nurse knew their roles, and the team was ready to act the moment the ambulances arrived. Monica brings a calm, savvy, and smoothness to operations that truly is uncanny; she is this way, always. I adore her for her traits of leadership, organization, and grace under fire, and all who have good sense are wise to do the same. There is nothing more valued by a fellow nurse than one who makes the team feel and be safe. On behalf of all of us, Monica, thank you for being you.
