Maddy provides constant safe, supportive, and excellent nursing care to her patients by ensuring nurses on her ward are practising to a good standard, and it is always her priority to give all the patients the best nursing care they can receive.
I would like to nominate: Maddison Whitney on K10 East – General Medicine (now OPAC) for a DAISY Award. I am an employee – a second year RN who has just completed my grad year on K10 East, and Maddy is one of two Clinical Coach’s on this ward. Every shift I have had over the past year with Maddy on the ward as the Coach, I have felt safe and supported. I have been able to thrive in my first year of nursing, and this is completely attributable to the fact that I felt completely supported in this by Maddy. The compassion and care she shows to her role, particularly with graduate nurses like me, is outstanding and something I could not have been without in my first year of nursing. Maddy has always been available to me when I experienced some personal issues outside of work, she always made it a priority to ensure I have felt okay at work surrounding these. She goes above and beyond what is required for her role in this aspect and is completely responsible for making the workplace feel like such a safe and supportive work environment.

I know that if it was not for Maddy and her compassion, kindness and excellence shown within this role, and as a nurse in general, I would not have had the best first year in nursing that I have had, and it was far better than I could have ever expected. I believe this has helped shape the nurse I have become, and Maddy has contributed to ensuring that graduate nurses are given the most wonderful, safe, and supportive time and experience within THS, leading to better and safer outcomes overall. I would not be as confident, independent, and competent as I am today, without her as a Clinical Coach in my area. Maddy provides constant safe, supportive, and excellent nursing care to her patients by ensuring nurses on her ward are practising to a good standard, and it is always her priority to give all the patients the best nursing care they can receive. The patients on K10 East are being given outstanding, compassionate care and this is because of Maddy's excellence in her role.
