My elderly mother was recently admitted with severe pain that was not under control. She was crying and begging for help because she was in so much pain, but it was too soon to give her more pain medication. George held her hand, tried to reassure her that he understood and he would give her something as soon as he could, put off moving her to adjust her bed as she just came up for me or until after he could give her pain medication, checked on her frequently, always extremely kind, compassionate, holding her hand when she would be in pain again, always apologizing if he thought drawing her blood hurt her at all or when he gave her insulin. He never complained or acted like it was a problem when he had to change her sheets or help her in any way, or when she was crying or begging for help, he always told her it was no problem, and not to feel bad. The most compassionate nurse I have ever seen. He deserves to be recognized for his devotion to his patients and his exemplary caring and compassion.
