Whether it's our patients, nursing students, fellow nursing leaders, or the teams that she leads, Cayla Mott, BSN, RN, makes a difference in the lives around her every day. 

O is a nurse in our Emergency Department who got her start by training in the ICU with Mott. In her nomination letter, she writes that Mott makes students feel so welcome, and that is a huge help to nurses coming to a potentially intimidating environment like the ICU. She also expresses deep gratitude for the time Mott spent with her.

"Working with Cayla, I got to see firsthand how she goes about her day, and I can say she is one of the busiest people I have ever met. Despite constantly having a full schedule, she is always there to help everyone, including her own staff, staff throughout the hospital, random people in the hallway, and patients. Her work ethic is something I admire as a student, and I hope to be half the nurse she is one day."

Mott is also an inspiration to fellow leaders.

"She has inspired me to be a better nurse, a better leader, and a better person," one nurse leader says in her nomination. "When I think of who inspires me, who I look up to, and who I would like to be in the future, Cayla always comes to mind. She is strong-willed, has a fair heart, and leads with passion and understanding."

Nine members of our Women and Children's Center team signed a nomination letter for Mott. They said, "Despite stepping into an unfamiliar area, she has approached every challenge with humility, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. She continuously seeks knowledge, asks thoughtful questions, and engages with her team to better understand the intricacies of the unit. Her adaptability and commitment to growth demonstrate her deep dedication to both her role and her staff."

"Her commitment to excellence, compassion, and advocacy truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award," they continue. "She leads not just with skill but with heart, inspiring everyone around her to strive for their best. It is an honor to work alongside her."
