David’s mentorship of new hires, his collaborative spirit with leadership, and his relentless pursuit of better care for our patients have earned him the admiration of peers and staff alike.
It is my honor to present the DAISY Nurse Educator Award to David Murchio, whose impact across our pediatric outpatient clinics has been nothing short of extraordinary. David brings passion, innovation, and deep compassion to his educator role every single day. Whether he's supporting staff in GI, Rheumatology, Ortho, or Neurology, his dedication ensures that our nurses are not only competent—but confident.
David is known for going far beyond basic instruction. He tailors education to the individual and the specialty, creating hands-on, engaging learning experiences. He’s always the first to volunteer—whether it’s being the “practice patient” for procedures, jumping in to support short-staffed clinics, or giving building tours while educating about our clinic history.
A shining example of David’s initiative is his recent training in ultrasound-guided venipuncture. He pursued this skill independently so that children with difficult veins could experience less pain and fewer pokes. Now, he's sharing this training with nurse supervisors, expanding access to this comfort-focused care across our clinics.
David’s mentorship of new hires, his collaborative spirit with leadership, and his relentless pursuit of better care for our patients have earned him the admiration of peers and staff alike. His ability to connect, inspire, and elevate everyone around him truly embodies what it means to be a DAISY Nurse Educator.
Congratulations, David!
