She will repeat herself and ask the same questions over and over again, but Taylor never got upset or flustered and answered each time as if it was the first.
My Nana was brought to DMH E.R. from the nursing home with dangerously high blood sugars and stomach pain. My Nana, who is almost 80 and battling dementia, was scared and hurting. I was very stressed and my mind was spinning from the stressful situation that led up to the E.R. visit.
Our Doctor and Nurse Taylor, went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable and cared for. She was treated quickly and with the utmost care and respect. Dementia patients can be difficult sometimes. She will repeat herself and ask the same questions over and over again, but Taylor never got upset or flustered and answered each time as if it was the first. She explained what she was doing every step so my Nana knew what was going on. She kept her engaged and calm.
Their kindness was exactly what we needed that night. As busy as the E.R. was, it would have been easy to put us in a room and move on but they both made us feel as if she was the only one there while seamlessly treating other patients as well. They never wavered in their calm and positive demeanor. They took a very chaotic and stressful situation and quickly made us feel safe and cared for. Instead of just another chart, we were treated as people and that meant the world to us. Thank you to them both for their patience and kindness.
