During one of our very busy shifts in the ICU, when every nurse was stretched thin, Jyoti showed a level of compassion and humanity that truly stood out. Without being asked, and despite not being assigned to the patient or the situation, she noticed a grieving family member sitting alone, hidden in the unit alcove.

Jyoti could have walked past, like many of us might have in the chaos of the moment, but she didn’t. She sat beside the family member and offered her presence. She didn't have the details, she didn't know the patient, but that didn't matter. She recognized that someone was hurting and needed comfort. Her kindness and empathy spoke volumes, and her actions remind us all why we chose this profession and inspire us to show up not just as nurses, but as people.
