She was the only one who ensured I was properly positioned, brought me a peanut ball to aid my labor, and paid attention to the small but critical details that made a big difference.
It has taken me months to write this nomination, as I am a mom who endured severe birth trauma, and even now, it's difficult to put into words just how much Amy meant to me during one of the hardest experiences of my life. Amy was more than just a nurse—she was my lifeline. During the 12 hours she was with me, she provided not only exceptional clinical care but also the kind of emotional support that is rare and invaluable. When she started her shift, we thought my baby might be born while she was there. That didn’t end up happening, but in many ways, it didn’t matter—because Amy showed up for me in ways that went far beyond the timing of a delivery.

She was the only one who ensured I was properly positioned, brought me a peanut ball to aid my labor, and paid attention to the small but critical details that made a big difference. I was in immense pain, and Amy did everything within her power to relieve it. But more than that, she listened to me. She heard me, saw me, and made sure I never felt alone during a time that could have easily felt isolating. Amy embodied everything you could hope for in a labor and delivery nurse: compassion, skill, attentiveness, and genuine human connection. I am forever grateful for the care she gave me. She helped me hold onto my strength when I felt like I had none left.
