It is with great pride and admiration that I nominate my Head Nurse, Ms Shonise Young, for the DAISY Award. She is the embodiment of compassionate leadership, clinical excellence, and unwavering dedication to patient care and staff support. As a Head Nurse, she demonstrates an extraordinary level of responsibility in her daily role. She manages complex operational demands with grace, ensuring that both patients and staff receive the attention and care they need. Her proactive approach to problem-solving and her ability to stay calm and composed during high-pressure situations make her a reliable and inspiring leader.

She builds strong interdepartmental relationships that enhance coordination and ultimately improve patient outcomes. Colleagues across disciplines frequently turn to her for guidance, knowing they will receive thoughtful, constructive, and compassionate support. Whether it's mentoring a new nurse, managing a critical incident, or simply offering a kind word during a stressful shift, consistently demonstrates the spirit of nursing at its very best. I am writing to express my deepest gratitude to my Head Nurse, Ms. Shomise Young, for all the support she has given me. Her dedication to her role goes well beyond just the professional; she has truly become a friend and an integral part of my life. During my struggles, she stood by my side and offered assistance in ways that I could never have anticipated. Whether it was lending a compassionate ear, providing emotional support, or even helping me through difficult financial situations, her kindness has made an immense difference. Ms Shonise's ability to connect with her staff on a personal level is a rare quality that not only enhances our workplace but also fosters a sense of family. I am incredibly fortunate to have someone as understanding and compassionate as her leading us. Thank you for being such a remarkable Head Nurse and an even better friend, with heartfelt appreciation.

My head nurse is so flexible, she can be a boss, bedside nurse, PCA, Sn3, and IPO. She has extraordinary skills that I have never seen from my previous head nurses. She is very responsible, manages a shortage of staff from other floors with the help of floats from our unit, without putting our unit at risk, and is very proactive. She encourages all her staff to attend conferences and to upgrade their privileges to have knowledge to ensure patients' safety.
Most of her staff turn to her for guidance. They know that she will give them the support, be it emotional, spiritual, and educational.
She has a great impact on my work, that's why I always inculcate in myself that working with integrity, passion, and loyalty is never hard to do since my Boss is a born leader, and she sets a very good example to us.
Four years ago, my family needed me to be home, but because of Shonise, I stayed and now 19 years in service. I know I made the right decision, and I prayed for discernment.
Good managerial skills, empathy to patients, staff, and doctors, especially her kind words that are full of wisdom, are enough to make her staff stay.
As a staff, I believe that she deserves to be recognized. Her leadership is beyond her capabilities. She is a superwoman in our healthcare team.
