Rebecca fosters critical thinking and problem-solving by empowering nurses to assess situations thoroughly, think proactively, and collaborate effectively.
Rebecca has cultivated a culture of trust and mutual respect by leading with compassion and integrity in every aspect of her role. She is consistently accessible to the nurses in our unit, ensuring that no concern goes unanswered - whether patient-related or professional development. She actively encourages open communication, making every nurse in our unit feel valued and supported. Whether it is here for a challenging delivery or checking in on staff after a long shift, she leads by example in ethical behavior and patient-centered care. She also prioritizes professional growth, frequently mentoring staff and advocating for continued education opportunities to elevate nursing practice within our unit. She treats us all with respect and listens to our needs. She encouraged us to be better nurses by offering us time for problem-solving and courses from CEUs. She is also available to help when we are short-staffed. Rebecca fosters critical thinking and problem-solving by empowering nurses to assess situations thoroughly, think proactively, and collaborate effectively. She encourages staff to approach challenges with evidence-based decision-making, always providing support and feedback rather than simply giving answers. Additionally, she promotes collaboration between nurses and physicians so we can continue to deliver the highest quality care. Rebecca is an advocate for the nurses in labor and delivery and is a wonderful mentor. She has had to take over being the leader for not only labor and delivery, but also the ED. Because of this, she has made sure to hire and train another charge nurse who can make sure that we have what we need when we need it. She still shows up early, checks in, and makes sure that we feel confident in the jobs we must do. She is mentoring the charge nurse to be able to be there for us when she cannot. She also lets us know that she is available at any time, and her cell phone is always on if she is not here, so if we have questions, we can call her no matter what time of the day or night. It feels good knowing that we have backup if things get crazy! She is fair and calm in the face of disruption and problems. She doesn't take sides and encourages us to work problems out in a calm fashion. Rebecca is an amazing leader. She shows great empathy and understanding by truly hearing what we have to say and demonstrates a genuine interest in any concerns we have. She pushes us to be better and reminds us we have purpose and value in what we do. I can't think of anyone who deserves this award more. Rebecca is a calm, considerate, and professional leader, even in the face of adversity. When tensions arise within the unit or among coworkers, she remains impartial and encourages us to approach situations from different perspectives, helping us find solutions on our own. She is highly respected by both staff and providers, maintaining composure and professionalism even when regularly approached with complaints or challenges. I have never seen her lose her temper or speak harshly to anyone—her level of diplomacy is truly admirable.
