The family would like to nominate Terry for her incredible act of kindness by offering to help my husband (who had terminal brain cancer) during our daughter’s wedding. It was a stress-free day thanks to Terry’s compassionate and dignified care. She offered to be at the wedding “off the clock”. Terry spoke to my husband in a calm, respectful, and caring way, and her assistance allowed him to participate in all aspects of the wedding, including walking his daughter down the aisle. We literally planned this wedding in two days in order for him to be present and physically able to participate.

Terry became close with the patient and the family of the patient, who was passing sooner than his family and himself was really prepared for. The care that Terry provided to them while in the hospital and while at his daughter's wedding is nothing shy of commendable. She provided them the opportunity to have family memories, photos that they may have not been able to have without her presence and care. I believe Terry is deserving of the DAISY Award for the recognition of her actions not going unnoticed. She came to work asking about what she should wear to the wedding, she was excited to be a part of that day; when the day came, she was excited and nervous, she wanted the day to be as perfect as possible. She took time from her own family and life to be there with this patient and family, and she wouldn't have had it any other way. Her coworkers, including me, are very proud to work alongside her.
