I experienced a stroke-like migraine that left me doubled over in pain. Lawrence asked if I was ok and provided some medication for the pain. As it progressed, my migraine rendered me blinded to strobing lights, disorienting me and making me dizzy. I could not walk. He was able to provide me assistance to my room, leading me and allowing himself to carry most of my weight.

As I was recovering, Lawrence brought me my medication and made me feel like I was being cared for. His good deeds don't end there; upon learning of my transgender status, he took extra care in the use of my pronouns and providing affirmations with my stay at the clinic. I was having all my needs met with a charming and delightful flair that only he could provide. He also recognized my disabilities, putting in an order for physical therapy. This not only greatly helped me, but I was also provided a cane for my back. I hold the firm belief that my treatment and care would have been worse if he hadn’t stopped in and helped. Nurses should look to his mindset, work ethic, and seek such a level of empathy.
