I had a major surgery at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. Surgeries like this are scary for patients, and the anticipation of the physical and emotional toll during recovery can be immense. That’s certainly what I felt going into the week prior to surgery.

Thanks to the amazing work of my surgeon, followed by the thoughtful care, attention, and encouragement from my nurse Leslie Kunkle, my stay in the hospital was better than I could have ever imagined. Leslie is the epitome of a health care professional who puts her patient’s needs, concerns and mental health as top priority. 

During my stay, she went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable by addressing every concern, need, question, and pain I was feeling. She quickly remedied things through the right medication, resulting in immediate relief, shared her vast knowledge that I was able to apply to my recovery process both in the hospital and when I went home, and she displayed an overall positive, compassionate, funny, and empathetic attitude that was infectious for the healing process. 

She genuinely cared about my recovery and healing, and I did not feel like just another patient in a hospital bed. To say my hospital stay was a pleasurable one is all thanks to Leslie and the amazing nursing team at Providence Saint Joseph’s. Because of Leslie and the entire staff, I’d recommend this facility to anyone.
