She demonstrated professionalism and expertise, yet it was her kindness and deep empathy that truly made her stand out.
It is with great admiration and appreciation that I nominate Nurse Jackie for the DAISY Award for Nursing Excellence. During my stay on the Fifth Floor Mother-Baby Unit, Jackie went above and beyond in her care, leaving an indelible mark on my experience as both a new mother and a patient.

Jackie cared for me with a level of compassion, expertise, and dedication that truly set her apart. She provided not only medical care, but also emotional support, making sure that my well-being was always her top priority. Even as a second-time mother, I had many questions and uncertainties about breastfeeding and caring for my newborn. My husband also had to leave each night to care for my older child. Jackie was patient, kind, and thoughtful in her approach. She took the time to carefully teach me techniques to help my baby latch and patiently walked me through each step, ensuring I felt confident and supported.

Jackie’s ability to anticipate my needs was truly remarkable. She always made sure I had everything I required before I even had to ask. Her kindness and calm demeanor created a safe and nurturing environment for both me and my baby. It was clear that she wasn’t just fulfilling her duties—she genuinely cared about my comfort and success as a new mom.

Jackie’s approach was the embodiment of patient-centered care, upholding the core values of Northwell Health. She demonstrated professionalism and expertise, yet it was her kindness and deep empathy that truly made her stand out. Her unwavering commitment to her patients is exactly what it means to be “truly made for this,” and she made me feel supported, heard, and truly cared for during what could have been a stressful and overwhelming time.

I cannot thank Jackie enough for the positive impact she had on my stay. Her exceptional care and support helped me transition into motherhood with confidence and peace of mind. She is the perfect example of what it means to be an Extraordinary Nurse, and I believe she deserves to be recognized for her dedication, compassion, and excellence in nursing.
