Jennifer O’Callaghan, CMC, is so lucky to have her. When I think of nursing excellence, she is it. Jen always comes in with a positive attitude, even when things are challenging, she looks for the silver lining. We had a patient with dementia and very confused and did not want to be alone. This patient needed help feeding, and primary nurse Jessica needed assistance in order to take care of her other patients. Jessica asked if Jennifer could help feed the patient, and with so much excitement and sincerity, she said, “I would love to,” and went into the room, turned on some fun music, and was dancing and talking, and feeding the patient. At one point, I heard Jen say, “This is one of the most fun dates I have ever had,” to the patient. The patient was beaming and dancing in the bed. This is just one example of how Jen interacts in such a positive and motivating way with patients and staff. I strive to be more like her in my day-to-day and when on the floor at CMC.
