She treated me with with a high level of sincere compassion, and with respect, explaining all meds and treatments, etc. clearly, but with the understanding that I am still a cognizant, intelligent person.
I was admitted from the ER with pneumonia. Knyndelle was my night shift nurse. I am 86 years old and most people addressing me are either simplistic, or address a family member who may be present, rather than the elderly patient. Kyndelle did none of those.
She treated me with with a high level of sincere compassion, and with respect, explaining all meds and treatments, etc. clearly, but with the understanding that I am still a cognizant, intelligent person. She always asked if I had my hearing aids in if she needed to explain something to me. She had a keen sense of humor.
One evening I found myself in a dilemma. I had pushed all the wrong buttons trying to adjust my bed. I was like a folded pizza wedge. Finally, I had to press the call button for help. I announced, " the bed is holding me hostage." When Kyndelle opened the door, she saw my contorted position. I was embarrassed but she didn't judge me. She fixed my bed and we both had a nice laugh together. She is the best nurse I've ever had.
