I am honored to nominate Ms. Blessing for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional dedication, compassion, and attentiveness during the three consecutive nights she cared for my father. My father is medically fragile and fully dependent on G-tube feeding. A critical component for administering his nutrition safely at home is the Y-site Extension with ENFit® Connector by Kangaroo, which was placed by the IR department during his last tube exchange. When I arrived in the evening, I discovered that the extension had been removed. Understanding how essential this component is for home care, I immediately brought it to Ms. Blessing’s attention. Without hesitation, Ms. Blessing sprang into action. She contacted nearly every unit in the hospital, including the ICU, in search of a replacement. Although the extension wasn’t located during her shift, she clearly communicated the urgency of the situation during hand-off to ensure follow-through. Thanks to her proactive efforts and detailed transition, my father received a replacement later that day--an essential step to ensuring his safe discharge home. This is just one of many examples of Ms. Blessing’s exemplary nursing practice. Throughout her care of my father, she was consistently kind, patient, and responsive to his needs. She made both of us feel heard and cared for, even in the often-overlooked overnight hours. Her attention to detail and heartfelt compassion truly stood out. Ms. Blessing embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award. She went above and beyond, not only delivering excellent clinical care but also making a meaningful difference in the lives of her patient and his family. I am deeply grateful for her support and proud to nominate her for this well-deserved recognition.
