I am a speech pathologist at the VA who works with Molly on the SCI unit. We have had an acute rehab patient who is young and has had a TBI, who has been confused, becomes agitated and upset at times, and can be difficult to redirect and work with. Several days in an row now Molly has been his nurse and the change in him, how well he listens to her, and how well she does with redirecting him, providing him exceptional care throughout these moments of agitation/confusion where he can be difficult to redirect, she does an amazing job, stays calm, treats him with such respect, it is absolutely amazing to see. She has such patience with him, and he responds very well to her. She is an amazing nurse with the patience of a saint, really trying to help him and care for him despite the challenges that arise during his moments of heightened confusion and behavioral times. As a fellow employee working with this same patient, knowing that some moments can be very difficult and taxing on all staff, she maintains a respectful and calm demeanor throughout it all. She is a fantastic nurse who really embodies the values of the DAISY Award.
