Our 89-year-old grandpa was a patient at Slidell Memorial. His nurse, Emily, did her best to make him feel as if he was home. She was very patient with him; she treated him as if he were one of her family members. Although we did not like to see our grandpa in the hospital in his condition, we felt better knowing he was in the care of Emily.

Often he goes into the hospital and doesn't like to ask the nurses for anything, he would apologize for needing their help; or even worse, says he's okay when he's not. Emily listened to all of his stories with interest, and that made him so happy. Anytime he called on her, she reassured him that he wasn't bothering her and that she was there to help him. He's home now and he's telling everyone about how nice Emily was to him. We couldn't have asked for a better person to care for our grandpa. Nursing isn't just a career, it's an art, and although many people go to college and become nurses, only a few are chosen.

Emily, continue to stay true to who you are and do the wonderful job that you do! My family and I wish you nothing but Peace, Joy, and Happiness.
