We know that Lance has other patients, but he makes us feel like our mom was the most important one.
One of the most important things a family wants when their loved one is in the hospital for any length of time is to know the care being provided is done with competence, dignity, and compassion. A little humor never hurts, either. At this writing, our loving mother has been in the hospital for over two weeks in the Unit. There have been many nurses helping her, and they have all been wonderful.
There is one nurse who stands out above the rest, and his name is Lance Spasske. Lance has lovingly cared for our almost 93-year-old mother as if she were his own mom. He provides all healthcare procedures with practiced care, talks to her about what he is doing (even when she was completely nonresponsive), and then spends as much time as the family needs explaining what he just did to her, how she is progressing, any planned treatment, and where he will be if we need help. He then answers any and all questions we have for as long as it takes. We know that Lance has other patients, but he makes us feel like our mom was the most important one. We can’t say thank you enough. Go Lance!
