She was not only proficient but also incredibly kind and emotionally supportive to both the patient and her spouse throughout the process.
In May, I was dispatched as a transport nurse on a Priority 1 call to pick up a critically ill patient from Sibley’s Emergency Department. I arrived at approximately 5:45 a.m., near the end of Abigail’s shift. Upon entering the room, I found Abigail and another nurse, neither of whom was the patient's primary, working with incredible urgency and compassion. They were simultaneously placing a peripheral IV and preparing a Foley catheter on a very young, sick patient while her husband stood by, visibly emotional as he watched the team care for his wife. Abigail’s dedication stood out immediately. Despite not being assigned to the patient, she stayed in the room with my team for nearly 45 minutes to assist in placing not one, but two ultrasound-guided IVs on a patient who was under-sedated and extremely difficult to access. Her skill, patience, and calm presence under pressure made a lasting impression on all of us. She was not only proficient but also incredibly kind and emotionally supportive to both the patient and her spouse throughout the process. Abigail remained an attentive and compassionate nurse even after helping us. As we were leaving, she gently and patiently redirected a combative patient in a hallway bed who was trying to get out of his stretcher showcasing yet again her grace and empathy in a high-stress environment.

Abigail is a phenomenal nurse. Her unconditional kindness, clinical excellence, and willingness to step in wherever she's needed make her a true asset to Sibley’s ED. My team and I repeatedly said we could not have completed the transport as efficiently or effectively without her coordination and support. Abigail, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such a pleasure to work beside. Your quick and calm demeanor were instrumental in getting this patient the timely care she needed. Her husband personally thanked me for how fast and compassionately we responded, and I want to share that gratitude with you. You were an essential part of that response. You are absolutely wonderful! Keep up the incredible work!
