My nearly 91-year-old father was a patient for twelve days, and Felicia was his primary nurse for nine of those days. Nearly every day, a new medical issue would arise, complicating my father’s case even more, but through it all, Felicia was there working nonstop to tend to him while simultaneously giving comfort to my mother, sisters, and me. Her personal attention of my father’s critical medical needs certainly lessened the event’s overall stress. She took the time to listen to our concerns, explain what medicines, procedures, and care my father was receiving. Numerous times when she was not with another patient, she would stop what she was doing and attend to my father, be it getting him more water, warming up his food if it got cold, getting us more blankets, or just engaging in conversation to ease my mother’s concerns. Her knowledge, nursing skills, and bedside manner are all exceptional, second-to-none – so much so, my father would calm down if agitated and brighten up when he heard her voice. Unfortunately, my job geographically separates me from my aging parents by nearly a thousand miles. I take comfort, though, knowing your organization includes an Extraordinary Nurse like Felicia who worked tirelessly to provide my father with first-class medical care.
