It is with our greatest honor that nursing leadership nominates Flora Owens-Ashlock for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award at Saint Mary’s Regional. Flora joined our organization just 52 ½ short years ago (she may say otherwise). Throughout this journey, Flora has spent countless hours in many roles and positions doing what she could to provide care for those in our community. These past several years, she has been in the house supervisor role, serving not just our patients but staff who enter through the doors each day. On several occasions, when we could not find Flora anywhere, you could begin walking the halls and would find her praying over a patient or with a staff member. Her heart is a true servant's heart. Flora is the epitome of the hands and feet of Jesus in our eyes. She has given her heart and soul to this organization. There are few nurses in this world who will ever compare to the legacy that Flora leaves in the halls of Saint Mary’s. It is our hope that Flora will be recognized for years to come as her legacy lives in all the lives she has touched and molded throughout the years. Her voice on the phone will be missed, along with the often evening consultations that bring us together. Mrs. Owens-Ashlock is a woman and a nurse who has left a lifetime imprint on the foundation of Saint Mary’s.
