She stayed over her shift to see me into the OR and be next to me when my husband had to wait outside.
I had gone into the labor of my first baby with an open mindset and “just wanting to have a baby and survive it.” When labor turned into an urgent C-section, my nurse, Quin, was the person who kept me from missing out on my birth experience. She was genuinely the supportive, caring, and calm presence that I needed more than I could have ever even imagined. She explained the entire process of a C-section, start to finish, for me when I asked. She encouraged me when my epidural continuously failed multiple times. She stayed over her shift to see me into the OR and be next to me when my husband had to wait outside.
I still get tears in my eyes thinking about her standing next to me when I was taken into the OR and telling me I wasn’t alone, and she wouldn’t leave me. She played such a critical role in my labor and delivery, and it is because of her and her patience and care that I’m confident in going through the process in the future for another baby. As a woman and a first-time mom, I hope that every person who walks through the doors of labor and delivery to have their baby is lucky enough to have Quin by their side. I also hope this for my daughter when her time comes. Quin embodies what the nursing field and human compassion are all about. Bronson is beyond lucky to have her, and so was I.
