Heather Kusmack, RN, was my mother’s pre-op nurse today. My mom came in for a right leg angiogram, and Heather was the most pleasant person. She really lightened the mood with her interactions with us. Great mix of funny and serious. She was very thorough in explaining everything that she was doing and also everything that would happen during her OP stay. The thing that stood out to me was that Heather did not hand off the nose-to-toes process to me and my mom. She assisted my mom with the whole process and was very thorough. My mom had two other angiograms and 5 other surgical procedures within the last year or so, which required the nose-to-toes, and Heather was the only RN who did not just explain the process and then leave me and my mother to complete it. When I brought this up, she explained that the nose-to-toes is the barrier between my mom and possible infection, and she takes that very seriously. I just wanted to thank Heather for her professionalism, diligence, and great care that she provided to my mother today. I’m confident she provides the same level of care to all her patients. She really is a stand-out nurse!
