My 16-year-old son was admitted to this unit, and he had severe pain for many nights. Mahayla took care of him on the most difficult nights. He had an ERCP and A laparoscopic cholecystectomy, but his pain was out of control. During the night, she attended to my son and escalated the concern. In the morning, he was taken for an emergent surgery because he had internal bleeding. The night after that, Mahayla took care of him again. His diastolic pressure was too low. I observed genuine caring concern for her patient. She tightly monitored him and paged multiple people to assess him and not miss anything. The ICU risk nurse and the ICU MD arrived. He was transfused with another unit of blood in the morning, and then I saw a turning point toward his recovery. I am eternally grateful to Mahayla for the outstanding care she provided.
