In just a few minutes, I witnessed the two of them interacting together and I felt peace in knowing that God had placed an amazing, compassionate nurse by his side.
Phenomenal Nurse! Those are two words that describe Brian Bartnett very well. In June, my husband, received triple bypass CABG surgery. He arrived in the CVICU in the evening to be cared for by Brian. This was a very scary and uncertain time for my husband and all of us as a family. The CABG procedure was his first surgery as an adult. He went from having a tonsillectomy at age 5 to this at age 57.

He and I had no idea of how he would respond to surgery anesthesia, and not a critical surgery like this. It was hard to see him in such a serious struggle with the pain, the ventilator, and so many other things going on in the CVICU. I was comforted by watching Brian talk to and care for my husband. He was calm, confident, and extremely attentive. He was very present and aware of the needs of my husband as he guided him throughout the recovery process. He called him buddy which created a special connection right from the start.

Brian had an exceptional bedside manner that is to be commended. In just a few minutes, I witnessed the two of them interacting together and I felt peace in knowing that God had placed an amazing, compassionate nurse by his side. One major thing, other than the care that he offered my husband, I appreciated how he responded and showed compassion to me.

When I was there, Brian explained everything that was happening with him. When I had a question, he didn’t just answer with a generic answer of he’s good or he’s okay. Brian gave me a personal, caring answer regarding his care and progress. When I called during the night to check on him, he responded the same way with details about him. In speaking with Brian, I never felt confused, left out, or frustrated about the care of my loved one. I was very appreciative of that!

My husband was in CVICU for 3 nights and he looked forward to Brian returning in the evening. The words, thank you for everything, don't seem like enough to recognize his outstanding care. Brian became a big part of our journey, and he stood out way above the rest. My husband and I, along with our family, want to express our heartfelt gratitude to him. Once again, Brian is a phenomenal nurse, and we are truly grateful for him.
