I recently had my baby at the end of June at Baptist. My genetic screening prior to her delivery came back high risk for Down syndrome, but we didn’t know for sure until delivery, but when she was born, she looked completely typical. Long story short, they ended up sending off a chromosome analysis, at which point she was diagnosed with mosaic Down syndrome, which is quite rare. Once we received an official diagnosis, we got a call from LaDona to get us some information about her diagnosis. She then offered to bring us the book to our house, which she did on a Sunday. If anything is going above and beyond, I feel like this is. I have been a nurse for 17 years, 16 at bedside, and to go the extra mile to bring some comfort to a family with a newborn is a true DAISY Nurse.
