Salena was kind and patient and did not at any time make me feel rushed, despite her having a full load of patients and the potential of having to assist at labor and delivery that day.
I would like to nominate Salena Williams for the prestigious DAISY Award. Salena was an excellent post-partum nurse. She greeted my husband and me with a smile, introduced herself, and immediately stated her plan for the day while also requesting my goals.
Salena referenced my patient care plan and listened to my specific needs so that I could achieve the goals I provided. I had mentioned to Salena how important it was that I see the lactation nurse specialist that day. Salena was incredibly kind and said she would personally go speak with a lactation specialist to request her availability so that I may be seen. Not only did Salena support me in achieving this goal, but she also personally provided education, tips, and hands-on support in my breastfeeding journey.
Salena was kind and patient and did not at any time make me feel rushed, despite her having a full load of patients and the potential of having to assist at labor and delivery that day. (She was potentially being pulled to switch care with another nurse.) Salena was incredibly thoughtful in her care and worked with the charge nurse to maintain her patient load and assist on the other unit as needed.
