G - Generous in sharing their knowledge:
Augustina focuses on the smallest of things; she doesn't aim for grand gestures but instead being hospitable in small ways to every patient.  Augustina continuously shows love and passion for what she does. As a seasoned nurse, Augustina is always willing to help out her fellow nurses and colleagues. She always helps when she is asked and has always been more than willing to share her expertise and help me understand my care and treatment. She ensures I feel informed and empowered. Augustina is exceptionally generous in sharing her knowledge and expertise when it comes to nursing and peer teaching. She takes the time to explain complex information in a way that patients, families, and colleagues can understand. Whether mentoring new staff, educating patients about their care, or guiding the team through challenging situations, she consistently goes above and beyond to ensure others feel informed and empowered. Her willingness to teach fosters a culture of learning and improves the quality of care for everyone within the department. Augustina is always happy to answer any questions related to nursing. 

S - Supports the I-CARE values:
Augustina demonstrates care for patients through a combination of verbal and non-verbal actions, such as active listening and ensuring clear communication. Augustina shows compassion to every person who comes her way. She always demonstrated empathy and sensitivity to others' suffering and a willingness to help. With every patient, Augustina implements the ICARE values when she is with the patients.  She takes time to teach and guide others, showing patience and kindness. She listens to the patient's or family member's story and always shows compassion towards any member or patient. She wants the best for every patient, regardless of whether they are hers or someone else, and she is already ready to step up and voice her opinion so that every patient she encounters gets the treatment that is necessary and deserved. She is empathetic to all patients.

H - Helps the entire healthcare team:
Augustina plays a vital role in acting as a communication bridge between patients and other healthcare professionals, as well as advocating for patient needs. Augustina, no matter how busy she is, never leaves her peers behind and will help. By promoting a positive and collaborative work environment, Augustina is a team player and is always helps out her fellow nurses and nursing assistants.  Whenever you have your hands tied or feel like you don't have time to do something, Augustina is always the first person to pop her head in without even asking and immediately start helping. She always speaks up for her team and is always seen helping her teammates. She will help any and all team members when the RN is unable to task.

N - Nurtures novice nurses:
Augustina is an experienced nurse who nurtures novice nurses, acting as a role model and training new onboarding nurses as well as creating a supportive environment. During the patient’s hard times, even coworkers, Augustina will always show kindness and compassion.  As a preceptor, she is able to instill her natural nurturing skills to all those she precepts. She is a natural and does everything with her heart. When I first started, Augustina was very helpful and made me feel at ease with the job quickly. She answered all my questions with a smile on her face and was always around to ask if I needed help. She is willing to teach and be a resource for all nurses.

U - Utilizes best practices:
Augustina is consistently prioritizing patient safety.   She always makes sure to use safe practice methods, such as using the Take Two method to identify all patients. Always uses the take 2 when seeing her patients. They are dedicated to providing the best care possible by staying up to date with current best practices, ensuring I always receive top-quality care. She consistently utilizes best practices in the ER to ensure patients receive safe, effective, and timely care. Augustina is the first person to use her voice when it comes to making sure her patients and work family are heard. She is quick and always on her feet, ready for anything. Safety is her primary concern.

R - Respects patient, family, and coworkers:
Augustina always actively listens to patients, family members, and loved ones by using respectful language as well as maintaining their privacy and dignity. During hard times, Augustina is always there to care and comfort not only patients but families as well. She always shows them respect by the way she explains to them the plan of care, always educates the patients and their families on their health so everyone is on the same page. She recognizes the needs of her patients by always remaining respectful and professional at all times. Augustina not only shows respect to everyone but also makes you feel like you're her family. No matter how difficult the day is, she always shows up to work with a smile and ends the shift with a laugh. She is respectful and goes above and beyond for the care and comfort of her patients.

S - Serves as a role model for all staff:
Augustina fosters a positive and supportive work environment by maintaining a positive and optimistic outlook, even in challenging situations, and encouraging others to do the same. Augustina shows leadership in all she does, even the fellow coworkers she precepts. She is influencing all of us as a good leader by practicing her nursing skills. I look up to Augustina and hope that one day, when I finish school, I can help everyone in the way that she does. Her nurturing and kind nature as a nurse and the way she takes care of her patients are commendable. She always helps everyone who asks. 

E - Excellent clinical assessment skills:
Through thoroughness, accuracy, and effective communication, Augustina demonstrates excellent clinical assessment skills. She exhibits a proficiency in medical procedures and evaluations for the patients. She always puts her all into her work and is very educated. By using critical thinking skills, she will make sure that she advocates for her patients. She uses her skills to address the needs and concerns of her patients. Clinically skilled and does her work with heart, she is quick to assess any changes in my condition and always acts promptly, making sure I’m given the right care at the right time.
