She has a can-do will-do attitude, and through that, she has the respect of her peers, which gives them the confidence and ability to be more like her.
This nurse has been a nurse for over 20 years, and she is just as eager to be the best for her patients today as I am sure she was when she started. They always have a positive attitude toward any situation, and not only does she face things with positivity, but she also has the ability to cultivate positivity in those around her. She is one of the most compassionate people I have ever met in my life; she cares deeply for everyone around her, including patients, family, and peers. She goes above and beyond every day to ensure the best for everyone, whether that be through advocating for her patients, lessening the clinical load of her fellow staff members, or rearranging the assignments of the entire unit to benefit the staff and patients combined. She has a can-do will-do attitude, and through that, she has the respect of her peers, which gives them the confidence and ability to be more like her. I can't think of a single person who is more deserving than her to be honored for an award such as the DAISY Award, though we have many highly qualified candidates. Some people have excellent situations that stick out, but I can honestly say that this nurse faces them every day with excellence, and she cultivates an environment of excellence around her. I encourage everyone to be in contact with her; she will leave you with a smile on your face and feeling like family. She is a pillar in the nursing community, and I am proud of her for being a leader for our NMC ICU team.

My 82 years young grandmother was recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma. The disease was advanced when diagnosed, but prior my grandmother was extremely strong, healthy, and independent. On July 4th, she suddenly went into respiratory distress and required intubation. After a few days and many discussions with specialists, the family decided to seek comfort measures only. Our nurse went out of her way to make the family comfortable while transitioning from intubated to DNR status on our grandmother. She was patient with us and allowed the family to take time to make decisions and say goodbye. Thank you to all the staff during our stay.
