Corrine was nominated by the daughter of a patient currently admitted at Central Campus. Her father has been hospitalized for the past week following an Emergency Department admission and requires complex medical care, including critical dietary restrictions such as thickened liquids and a moist, minced diet.

The daughter shared that, due to past experiences outside our facility, she often struggles to advocate for her father and fears her concerns wouldn’t be taken seriously. But from the very beginning, Corrine made her feel heard. She listened closely to both the patient and his daughter, showing genuine compassion and professionalism that immediately built trust. Corrine has consistently gone above and beyond to provide thoughtful, patient, and family-centered care.

One especially meaningful example shared by the daughter was Corrine’s effort to pre-mix the patient’s thickened drinks and keep them refrigerated, ensuring he could enjoy a cold, properly prepared beverage at any time. A small act, yet one that had a profound impact on the patient’s comfort, dignity, and overall experience. The daughter became emotional while describing Corrine’s care, calling her a true ally and advocate during a challenging time. She expressed heartfelt gratitude for Corrine’s compassion, not just for her father, but for her as a family member.

Corrine’s dedication, empathy, and clinical excellence embody the very spirit of the DAISY Award. Her extraordinary care has made a lasting difference in the lives of this patient and his family.
