Caroline Woon has many years of experience in neuroscience nursing. She began her career as a bedside nurse in the stroke ward in the UK and became an epilepsy CNS. After moving to Wellington, New Zealand, she became a nurse educator for 11+ years and taught hundreds of new neuroscience nurses, setting the standard of care, creating policy, and founding the Neuroscience Assessment and Observation Unit (NAOU). Noticing that nurses across the country should have neuroscience education, she, along with others, founded the New Zealand Neuroscience Nurses Education Symposia, now a formalized company.

As a current board member of the Australasian Neuroscience Nurses Association, she is part of the education and webinars hosted by ANNA. She was one of the organizers of the 2019 ANNA conference, and the nominator shared 2 presentations with her as her mentor. As a committee member, she has facilitated the New Zealand Aotearoa Neuro Oncology Society (NANOS) conference since 2023. Additionally, she is on the Brain Tumour Support NZ nurse advisory board, supporting their gala event and fun run fundraisers. Caroline is on the editorial board for the Journal of Australasian Neuroscience and a peer reviewer for the British Journal of Neuroscience Nursing. To date, she has contributed and published around 13 different pieces of literature from across the world. Her nominator states: Personally, I looked up to her as my best nurse educator.
