Darrell was an absolute godsend to me at my time of need in the ER. I was in the most pain I have ever experienced, even worse than childbirth, as well as vomiting frequently due to the intense pain. Darrell was not my first nurse that evening in the ER but was assigned to me at 7pm shift change. He was prompt on being present and getting the ball rolling on my care. He was very attentive to my needs, and his obvious confidence and experience made me feel certain that I was receiving top-notch care. He followed through with orders from the provider, who was also fantastic. I was at Lake Gaston for the first day of our week-long family vacation when I realized I would need ER care for my pain. Admittedly, I was nervous about choosing a hospital for my care in an area that I was not familiar with. Having Darrell and the provider made the difference in feeling like I would receive great medical care even at a rural hospital. Although there was a lot of noise from other patients in the rooms on either side of me, Darrell was bouncing constantly between us. He made sure I was checked on, even if it meant he had to get someone else to peek in while he was busy in another room. I was so thankful for him and the medic who also helped during those extremely intense hours of pain while I waited to be admitted to an inpatient bed for further testing.
