She is the president of "no wrong door," pushing clinical practice to stay current to meet the needs of our patients.
Cicely Overton also known as "Team CC" is one of the most phenomenal leaders that I have ever worked with. My first interaction with her was over a decade ago. She was working at Westside Health Center as a staff nurse. One of her patients had missed several appointments and she knocked on the door to our team's office. She wanted to know if one of our team members could go by and check on "Mr. Jones". This was over a decade ago. Long before care "outside of the four walls" was common practice. We did a home visit to let "Mr. Jones" know that his nurse CC, sent us to check on him. He was overjoyed that his clinic cared enough to send someone to check on him and yes he came in for care.
This is one small example of how Cicely cares for our patients, staff, and providers. She is the president of "no wrong door," pushing clinical practice to stay current to meet the needs of our patients. She is the first to sign up for innovative practice change, implementation of workflow, and professional growth opportunities for herself and all staff members. Leading by example, she has successfully climbed her personal career ladder from CNA to LPN, to RN, ASN, to RN, MSN-C. She is the first to occupy Eskenazi Health's Director of Nursing and Clinical Practice in primary care.
"Team CC" started out as a collaborative title in her work pod at Westside Health Center, Team Captain at Blackburn and Barton Health Centers, Population Health Nurse, Intensive Care Manager, Nursing Clinical Implementation Coordinator, Nursing Clinical Care Manager, and now Director of Nursing and Clinical Practice. She is instrumental in our collaboration of care and practice across our organization.
One of her favorite phrases is "I'm here to be challenged," always referring to how we can better serve our patients and staff. So far, she is undefeated. Her focus is always to advocate, care, teach and serve- a challenge we all accept each day.
