Joe is one of those nurses who truly loves his job and never makes his patients feel like a burden.
My husband recently had surgery to have an RNS Device implanted. Due to him having several seizures after the procedure, he had to stay in the hospital for a few nights. It was a very scary time for he had become so confused and disoriented due to a cluster of seizures. The day he was going to be discharged was in early February. I walked into the unit, and a young nurse looked at me and my son and said, "Good morning," so cheerfully and made us feel so welcome.

After a few minutes of our visit, this young man came into my husband's room, introduced himself, sat down on a chair in the room, and informed us that my husband indeed would be getting discharged, and asked if we had any questions. He let us know he was still waiting for a few orders, but as soon as he could, he would get the process rolling.

Once the orders were written, he quickly came in and removed my husband's IV and went over all the paperwork. Then he assisted my husband with getting dressed and washed before leaving. This truly touched my heart because my husband was unable to get out of bed during this admission, so he was weak, and I was worried. Once he was dressed, we went over all the discharge paperwork. He stated he would be right back to bring us downstairs.

He returned with a wheelchair and a towel to cover my husband's head, for it was raining outside. He covered my husband's head, walked us outside, and had no problem, even though at that time it was pouring rain outside. He stated, "No worries, I will assist him into the car."

Although I was only there for less than two hours, thanks to Joe's promptness, he made such an impact on me and my family. I truly appreciated the care he gave my husband in that time, and the way he introduced himself and made us part of the discharge plan. Joe is one of those nurses who truly loves his job and never makes his patients feel like a burden. So refreshing. So grateful for him.
