Ailbhe was one of the nurses on duty at the very beginning of my father’s ICU journey. We were called to the hospital in the middle of the night because he had gone into septic shock, was extremely unstable, and the team was unsure if he would make it through the night. Ailbhe was on duty again the following morning, and by then my father had begun to partially stabilize.

It makes such a difference to the families of critically ill patients to have a nurse who not only provides exceptional clinical care but also communicates with kindness, clarity, and compassion. Ailbhe took the time to explain what was happening and why, easing an unbearable level of fear and uncertainty. She is clearly highly knowledgeable and deeply skilled in her role.

Nursing is layered: there is the vital clinical knowledge, but there is also the profound importance of bedside manner, which should never be underestimated. Ailbhe excels in both, and our family will always remember the comfort she provided during the most terrifying moments of my father’s care. She is truly outstanding.
